Good to know
- Replace source is ON by default — it overwrites originals with no backup. Turn it off in Settings › General to keep both.
- HEIC is input-only — 1FileTool can read HEIC but cannot write it back.
- Converting to JPG loses HEIC-only features like depth maps and live-photo data — it produces a flat image.

Tips
- Convert a whole folder at once — drop 50 photos and they all come out as JPGs.
- To keep a compressed-for-web copy instead, run them through Compress Images after converting.
- JPG is the universal output; for a lossless archive choose PNG via the Convert tool.
Frequently asked questions
Why can't I open HEIC on Windows or a website?
HEIC is an Apple format — most non-Apple software and web upload forms don't read it. Converting to JPG makes the photo work everywhere.
Is there quality loss?
Minimal — conversion writes JPG at quality 90 with mozjpeg. For a truly lossless output, convert to PNG instead.
Do I need an internet connection?
No — the HEIC decoder is bundled and runs on your machine.
Will my photos be uploaded?
