- Check what is hidden — Optional but smart: run View EXIF on a photo to see the GPS location, camera model and timestamps it carries.
- Open Strip EXIF — Under Image Tools, or search "exif" with ⌘/Ctrl+K.

Good to know
- Replace source is ON by default — stripping in place overwrites the original file and its metadata forever. Turn it off in Settings › General to keep both.
- Only metadata is removed — a photo's visible content (faces, street signs, documents) is untouched.

Tips
- Strip before posting to marketplaces, forums or social — those JPEGs carry your home GPS by default.
- For PDFs use PDF Metadata Remover under Privacy Tools instead.
- Verify a clean result by running View EXIF on the output — it should show no GPS or camera data.
Frequently asked questions
What data does EXIF contain?
Typically GPS coordinates, camera/phone model, serial number, date and time, exposure settings — and sometimes a thumbnail of the photo. Most phones embed all of it.
Does stripping change the image?
No — only the metadata block is removed. The pixels stay identical.
Does stripping remove watermarks or faces?
No — that is image content, not metadata. For blurring visible details use a privacy tool or an image editor.
Are my photos sent anywhere?
No — the strip happens entirely on your computer.
