Word, Excel and PowerPoint tools
Convert Word, Excel and PowerPoint files to Markdown, text, PDF, HTML, CSV or JSON, extract images and strip metadata offline, with no Microsoft Office needed.
The Office section in the sidebar handles Word, Excel and PowerPoint files on your own computer. Modern .docx, .xlsx and .pptx files are read directly, so you do not need Microsoft Office installed, and nothing is uploaded. Added in 1FileTool 1.11.1.

Drop one file or a batch. Each file in a batch runs on its own, so one damaged document does not stop the rest, and two files with the same name (report.docx and report.xlsx converted to Markdown) both keep their output instead of one overwriting the other.
Older formats and LibreOffice
Legacy .doc, .ppt and .rtf files, and OpenDocument files, need a converter 1FileTool does not bundle. If LibreOffice is installed, Settings › Add-ons finds it (or lets you point at it) and the Office tools use it for those formats and for Convert Format. 1FileTool never downloads or installs LibreOffice for you.
Strip Metadata works on modern files only (.docx, .xlsx, .pptx). Run it before you send a file outside your organisation; the visible content is unchanged.
Open Office files with 1FileTool
Word, PowerPoint, RTF and OpenDocument files, plus .xlsm, .ods and .tsv spreadsheets, can be opened with 1FileTool from Finder or File Explorer. The file lands in the app with the matching tools offered: Office to Markdown, Office to PDF, Count Tokens, Split for Context and the rest.
Automate it
Office to Markdown, Office to PDF and Strip Office Metadata are available as Folder Monitor actions, so a file dropped into a watched folder can be converted or cleaned on its own, and as steps in a workflow recipe. The Office tools are also under Tools › Office in the menu bar, and your AI assistant can run them through AI Access.
