Install on Mac, Windows and Linux
Download 1FileTool for macOS (Apple Silicon and Intel), Windows 64-bit or Linux x64 — one installer per platform, with in-app updates.

There are no ARM builds for Windows or Linux — on those platforms you need an x64 machine.
Install
macOS. Open the .dmg and drag 1FileTool into Applications (or unzip the .zip and move the app). Because the Mac build is signed and notarized, it opens without Gatekeeper warnings.
Windows. Run the setup EXE, or use the portable build if you don't want to install. The installer isn't signed, so Windows may show a SmartScreen prompt — choose More info → Run anyway. That's expected for an unsigned app, not an error.
Linux. Install the .deb on Debian/Ubuntu, or make the AppImage executable (chmod +x) and run it.
First launch
First run walks you through a short onboarding: a welcome screen, then your output folder (the default is ~/Documents/1FileTool) and a default compression level. Right after onboarding you'll see the analytics consent dialog — Allow or No thanks, and you can change your answer later in Settings › Privacy.
Protect your originals first
Replace source is ON by default: the output overwrites the original file and no backup is kept. Before following along, open Settings › General and turn Replace source off, or pick a separate output folder.
The installer also registers 1FileTool as an opener for the formats it handles — images (including HEIC), video, audio, PDF, Word, CSV/Excel/JSON/XML/Markdown and ZIP archives — so "Open with 1FileTool" works from your file manager.
Keeping it updated
Updates arrive in-app. 1FileTool checks GitHub Releases every 6 hours by default, downloads automatically and installs on quit — all configurable in Settings › Updates, or on demand via Check for Updates... in the app menu (File menu on Windows/Linux).
